These reports (1938-1945) were captured German scientific documents made available to the Manhattan Engineer District by the ALSOS mission (1943-1945) and subsequently transferred to the United States Atomic Energy Commission Technical Information Service. Topics include reactor experiments (including graphite, heavy ice, heavy water and paraffin moderated reactors), isotope separation experiments and particle accelerator construction. Contributors include W. Bothe, K. Dopel, Paul Harteck, Werner Heisenberg, Hans Suess, Carl F. von Weizsäcker, and K. Wirtz.

The United States Atomic Energy Commission was established in 1946 to put atomic energy research and development under civilian control. It took over most of the personnel from the Manhattan Engineer District when it was dissolved in 1949.
